2025 Discretionary Grant Recipients

Each year, the City supports community organizations that provide beneficial programs, services and projects within our community by allocating funds through the discretionary grant program. 

In 2025, the City is proud to provide $11,712.58 to support the following groups and initiatives:

Ghostrider Adventure Camp Foundation

Funds will be used to support two at risk children to attend a one-week camp at no cost to the individual. $1,500.00

Fernie Pride Society 

Funds will be used to support the Elk Valley Youth Pride Project. This initiative is to increase the available 2SLGBTQ+ youth programs by offering two events per month to increase social and civic engagement. $2,000.00 

Fernie Volleyball Club 

Funds will be used to fund the shade structure project. This project is the installation of a commercial fabric sail shade with four-point steel post structure design at the outdoor beach volleyball courts.$3,000.00

Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy 

Funds will be used to fund “Family Fun Time for Newcomers” literacy and settlement program for immigrant families with school-aged children. $1,712.58

Fernie Elks Lodge #81

Funds will be used to help renew the hall flooring of Elks Lodge that is used for events hosted by non-profit community groups. $2,000 

Joan Delich Kindergym Society 

Funds will be used to support the 2025 facility hall rental and facilitator wages for the Fernie kindergym program that provides play-based learning opportunities for children 0 months to 5 years old. $1,500

Applications for 2025 totaled $18,212.58. Submissions were evaluated by the Discretionary Grants Committee on November 28, 2024, guided by the City's Discretionary Grants Policy.
