The City of Fernie invites applications from qualified persons for the Full-Time, Temporary position of Municipal Engineer.
This position will appeal to a driven professional who understands the complexities of local government and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where they can contribute to organizational strategy while delivering critical projects for the community. The Municipal Engineer will be primarily responsible for leading the execution of engineering projects and activities. This is a management position with a wide range of responsibilities and has exposure to all stages of a project, from conception through construction.
The Municipal Engineer will be responsible for scoping, managing and budgeting capital infrastructure projects such as roads, storm water and drainage management, water supply and distribution, sewage collection and treatment, and land development.
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university and be a registered professional engineer. The successful candidate will also have previous working experience, minimum three years, in municipal infrastructure project management, design and construction. This person is motivated and well organized and has strong problem solving, leadership, and communication skills.
This position is a contracted position expected to work for City of Fernie until May 31, 2022.
