City Supporting Griz Days 2024

The City of Fernie is proud to support the 47th Annual Griz Days and the many exciting events coming to town this weekend.  

Community classics like the Extreme Griz Competition, Bed Race and Dummy Downhill are back on the schedule, and there are a few other activities in the works this year, including snow golf, a cold plunge, and a curling bonspiel. And once again, the City will be offering free Public Skate and free Public Swim on March 1.

To support the events and festivities this weekend, staff will be facilitating road closures throughout town from February 29 - March 3, 2024.  

See the following road closures:

Thursday, Feb. 29th 6AM to March 3rd 12PM

The Legion / Station Square parking lot will be closed. Any remaining vehicles will be towed.

Thursday, Feb. 29th 10PM to March 3rd 12PM

1st Ave will be closed from 5th Street to 6th Street with limited vehicle access to this area. Businesses, residents and the public are asked not to park in Station Square and the downtown core for the duration of the festival. Any remaining vehicles will be towed.

Friday, March 1st 10PM to Saturday, March 2nd 8PM

2nd Ave will be closed from 5 th Street to 6th Street. Any remaining vehicles will be towed. Saturday, March 2nd 2PM to Saturday March 2nd 8PM 2 nd Ave from 4th Street to 13th Street. Intersections of 9th Street and 2nd Ave & 8th Street and 2nd Ave are partial closures which will allow the public to access Save-On-Foods and will be lifted as soon as the parade has passed.
