Fernie's FireSmart Demonstration Forest Community Event

This is the time of year when wildfires and their devastating effects become top of mind. Pull on your work gloves and join with friends and Fernie Fire & Emergency Services to make our community safer. At the same time, learn how to manage vegetation around your own home to reduce the risk of wildfire losses! The FireSmart Demonstration Forest combines hands-on experience and information that allows everyone to get involved. Small actions can make a BIG difference!   

This is a family friendly event, children to seniors welcome.

FireSmart Demonstration Forest Project
Saturday August 25, 2018 – St. Margaret’s Cemetery (Ridgemont Area)
9 - 4 PM; refreshments and food provided

This project is supported by BC Wildfire Service. A landscaping firm will provide chipping services. Fernie residents will be pruning trees, thinning the forest understory and pulling hazardous forest fuel to the chipper for removal. We look forward to seeing you at this important event!
