Effective at 1:00 p.m. (MDT) on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Category 3 open fire will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, including Fernie and area. This prohibition is being enacted to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. -

The City has engaged a hydrogeological consultant (ISL Engineering) to investigate groundwater movement near Elkview Crescent to help determine likely causes of groundwater entering basements and potential mitigation options.
